Queen Bees Buckfast 3D. VSH+
Hygienic F1 queen bees for the production of honey, with characteristics of resistance to varroa and virosis. In the last 30 years we have gone from a damage threshold in a colony from 6000 to less than 1000 varroe. The causes are manifold but certainly the lack of selection and the perpetuity of certain bee practices have greatly influenced to isolate increasingly aggressive varroe and increasingly epidemic viruses.
The aim is therefore to progressively select and introduce the characteristics of varroa resistance (VSH) and hygienic behavior (HYG) in the populations of productive bees used by beekeepers, maintaining their genetic variability and good characteristics obtained in years of selection.
Buckfast 3D.VSH+ Queens Bees
Hygienic F1 queen bees for the production of honey, with characteristics of resistance to varroa and virosis. In the last 30 years we have gone from a damage threshold in a colony from 6000 to less than 1000 varroe. The causes are manifold but certainly the lack of selection and the perpetuity of certain bee practices have greatly influenced to isolate increasingly aggressive varroe and increasingly epidemic viruses.
The aim is therefore to progressively select and introduce varroa resistance (VSH) and hygienic behaviour (HYG) characters in the populations of productive bees used by beekeepers, maintaining their genetic variability and good characteristics obtained in years of selection
The aim of our work is to bring a positive impact on the daily management of the colonies:
- a decrease in the rate of reproduction of varroa during the year
- more performance on crops thanks to healthier bees and longer over the seasonal period
- the exit from the logic of calendar treatments
- a reduction in operating costs
- a balance between productivity and hive health
Saturated fertilization apiaries with 3 male lines (3 drones) with a high self-hygienic capacity and stretches of varroa resistance, in which female lines with the same characteristics are rotated, are the guarantee of queen bees that combine a level of heterosis and vitality to the heredity of varroa resistance traits and a better tolerance to viruses: balance necessary to make beekeeping competitive and performing in the future.
